Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches Seventh Regional Meteorological Centre in Jammu

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s seventh Regional Meteorological Centre in Jammu on 5 June 2026. It will serve Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh with district-level forecasts, mountain weather warnings, and disaster alerts for flash floods, cloudbursts, and avalanches. The centre will benefit pilgrims, farmers, and security forces. The Minister highlighted expanded radar and observatory networks under Mission Mausam. A similar centre is planned for Lucknow. This restructuring improves specialised weather services for the Himalayan region.
