India celebrated Global Wind Day 2026 on June 15 with the theme "Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration." Hosting the central conference in Goa, the nation highlighted its massive potential of 1,163.9 GW at a 150-meter hub height. Ranking fourth globally, India's capacity reached 56.09 GW in March 2026, driven by a record 6.05 GW annual addition. With 24 GW domestic manufacturing capacity and 70-80% component indigenization, India is expanding into offshore wind via alliances with the UK, Belgium, and Denmark to achieve its 100 GW milestone.
