Lt Commander Suraj Prashar Receives Shaurya Chakra

- Lieutenant Commander Suraj Prashar of the Indian Navy’s Marine Commando Force (MARCOS) was awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2026 (Phase-I) on June 8, 2026, at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- He was honoured for displaying exceptional bravery during Operation Chuntawadi in Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir, on the night of November 5/6, 2024. The joint cordon and search operation involved engagement with terrorists. The Shaurya Chakra is India’s third-highest peacetime gallantry award for acts of courage and devotion to duty.
