Launch of Pluvicto in India
Published on 17 Jun 2026
- India has launched Pluvicto, the country’s first approved radioligand therapy for advanced PSMA-positive metastatic prostate cancer, introduced by Novartis. This precision therapy uses Lutetium-177 to deliver targeted radiation directly to cancer cells, minimising damage to healthy tissues.
- It offers new hope for patients with limited treatment options. India records around 250,000 prostate cancer cases annually, many at advanced stages. The launch highlights India’s growing nuclear medicine infrastructure with over 250 centres. Clinical trials show improved progression-free survival and quality of life. Pluvicto will initially be available at select hospitals.
