India among world's worst 5 countries in Green Performance Index

- India has been ranked 176th in the Environmental Performance Index, a marginal improvement from the EPI 2022, which had placed the world's most populous country at the bottom of the chart (180th position).
- Despite the central government's claims of improving the environment, India remains among the world's worst five countries in the 180-nation Environmental Performance Index prepared by two leading American institutions.
