Swaminathan Janakiraman Reappointed as RBI Deputy Governor

The Government of India reappointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for another two years, effective from 26 June 2026. A senior banker with extensive experience from State Bank of India, he handles banking operations, risk management, and financial supervision. The reappointment ensures leadership continuity at the central bank during a crucial period for the Indian economy. RBI is headed by the Governor and supported by four Deputy Governors.
