India’s Seventh Regional Meteorological Centre Opens in Jammu

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Jammu on 5 June 2026, the seventh such facility in India. It will serve Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, providing specialized weather forecasts for mountainous terrain. The centre will issue district-level, mountain, flash flood, avalanche, and cloudburst warnings. It will benefit pilgrims, farmers, disaster management agencies, and security forces. Four Doppler Weather Radars are currently operational, with five more planned under Mission Mausam.
