Vinod Ganatra Becomes First Indian Honoured With ‘Nelson Mandela Lifetime Achievement Award’

- Filmmaker Vinod Ganatra has become the first Indian to be honoured with South Africa's prestigious 'Nelson Mandela Lifetime Achievement Award' for his contribution to films.
- For his immense contribution to the world of cinema for children, he was awarded this prestigious award at the ongoing 7th Nelson Mandela Children's Film Festival.
- Ganatra has won 36 national and international awards, including the Janakinath Gour Award from Doordarshan for his children's programme "Baingan Raja".
- He became the only Indian filmmaker to receive the 'Liv Ulman Peace Prize' in Chicago for his Gujarati film 'Haroon-Arun'.
- He has edited and directed more than 400 documentaries and newsreels, as well as created 25 multilingual television programmes for children and young people.
